please speak about modernization of -- including operation navy n-97 and navy n-9. carry miniature nuclear warheads to be squeezed and put into operation navy carrier? mr. work: ok. look, a nuclear posture review is coming to a closer and it will be very important. it will say what the trump administration believes about the nuclear deterrent force. i think it is no secret that president obama really was informed by a world where he wanted to go to zero nuclear weapons and that all of the decisions that were being debated in the white house, even though the nuclear review that his administration did called for maintaining new start numbers, the new strategic arms agreement with the russians, maintaining new start numbers and having a triad. there started to be a big debate on whether we should go to a diad, whetheror a or not we can get read of icbms. whether or not we needed to develop a long-range strike option. he was ready to direct us to do things in the administration. in the end, hein the end, he sas better left to the trump administration. one of the things

the navy knows how to build ships. so does the coast guard but we know how to build large ones and we're teaming up. the navy will benefit, the coast guard will benefit, the taxpayer will benefit. we have had success in work with congress on lowering cost through process and improvement but we have a long way to go. we approached appreciated the authority for block and multiyear buys and use that to effectively fund our program. s. tools like these help us balance the economies of scale while ensuring the health of the defense industrial base, a base that at the end of the day provides us our capabilities. aappreciate the bipartisan advocacy in defining a 355 ship navy as law. it's not just the ships we talk about. it's every asset across the board. we'll work diligently to implement the decision to rapidly and frugally, with the resource provided be congress, grow the fleet of the united states navy, at we press forward, i'm committed to expanding the fleet on the sea, under the sea and in the air, but we have to lay

s have cost the department f the navy roughly $4 billion. since 2011, we have put $4 billion in a trash can, put lighter fluid on top of it and burned it. $4 billion as you know, you're all doing the math, i can see it, or you're snooze, i can't tell if you're thinking. t's enough to buy us two destroyers, 3,000 harpoon missiles, 2,000 tactical tomahawk missiles. it's enough money to buy us the additional capacity and capability that we need. instead that $4 billion of taxpayers money was lost because of inefficiency of the ways of the continuing resolution. each member of our all-volunteer force makes a promise to protect our nation from harm if called and to give their full measure to do so. it's time for our nation and congress to keep the same promise to them. as secretary mattis has said, our nation can afford survival and another continuing resolution is a broken promise and one more chip away at our ability to survive. in close, i want to thank you all for the opportunity to stand in front of you. i'm going to stop bloveuating and tak

and a navy yard to repair. admiral realized that the japanese was going to make the main effort at midway. he ordered york town back to pearl harbor and gave the dock yard people the orders that she has to be ready for sea in three days. 72 hours. it was a frantic effort as you can well imagine to do all this. our other york town veteran mr. crawford in fact reported aboard at this time. he was fresh in. he told me that when he reported aboard he was sent to the executive officer to get his assignment. >> which was clark at the time. >> the executive officer is exhausted. but we know now this was like a frenzy. in order to get the ship repaired, replenished and everything set to go. in throe days. he sent mr. crawford to find his place on some watch bill somewhere and get back to him later. he was trained as radar officer. but what i want to do, john, is i want you to describe where where are battle station was during the battle. >> let me insert something for the record. the battle of midway would have been fo
