here are women in the navy. these are marvelous images that are from the navy's history website of women. this is what is called the choke chamber, the air traffic control tower. this is parachute rigging. this is preparing for being on planes and different circumstances and situations. women as air traffic controllers always surprises people. they don't think that women were ever trained to be air traffic controllers. they did these jobs with no problems, we have very few reports of problems emanating from the fact that women were doing these jobs. next slide. here is a very different area of women's involvement. the stage door canteen. as it was said that the time, through these puddles pass the most beautiful uniforms in the world. the stage door canteen was to give our inner two soldiers who are on leave in the various cities, where the canteens were open, it was founded in 1917 by seven suffragettes and kind of faded away. and then for world war ii, it was revived by a group from the american theater wing.
