"outfront" tonight breaking news on this friday night on malaysia airlines flight 370. u.s. investigators have found the evidence pilot deleted files on his simulator's hard drive. more files deleted more recently than had been reported. another crucial piece of new information tonight we finally have a transcript of the entire 54 minutes of communications between the pilots and air traffic controllers. this transcript was obtained by the british newspaper the telegraph. it shed some new light on the critical moments before the passenger jet with 239 people on board vanished. and officials are looking into reports of a phone call made by the pilot just eight minutes before takeoff. we begin our coverage out in washington. pam, i want to start with those deleted files. that's the latest information i know you've been breaking. what does this tell us about the timeline now? >> reporter: basically, erin, experts are telling us that

navy pa poseidon is desperately searching the indian ocean for potential debris. adam is the officer in charge of that mission. he joins us from perth, australia. good evening, sir or good morning i should say to you. >> good morning. >> what is the flying weather like right now? >> right now it's clear here. low cloud ceilings on the search area, we are expecting good weather today and should be good conditions for a visual search. >> what is so good about the p. 8? i have been studying a little bit it's a modified 737 as best i can see. why it is the ideal aircraft to do this search? >> it's reliable. it gives an opportunity to cover a lot of ground. we are able to cover roughly about 2500 miles of square miles per ocean per hour. >> is it speed or is it something you have on board that allows you to have any sort of depth so you can can can detect something at some depth? technological reasons for that plane or just speed? >> it's both. and we have sensors on board that allow us to search the ocean both above and below water. we are con sen search now above the

navy's grand new p8 poseidon. the plane is designed to hunt enemy submarines. it is searching west of perth, australia. with so many conflicting reports about flight 370 we asked our transportation correspondent jeff pegues to put together a timeline. it all began early saturday morning march 8. >> reporter: sometime after taking off at 12:41 a.m. investigators believe someone reprogrammed the plane's flight management system to turn away from its original flight plan. then 26 minutes after take off the plane sent its last automatic data transmission to the airline. at 1:19 a.m. the copilot told air traffic controllers in malaysia, all right, good night, as the plane moved towards vietnamese air space. they were the last words heard from the cockpit. two minutes later at 35,000 feet the transponder was turned off. the plane went dark on civilian radar and then made a left turn back toward malaysia. sources say it followed an established aviation corridor over several navigation away points. the malaysian military tracked an unidentified object on their radar tr
