after 149 days, the nba and its players have reached a tentative agreement that would end the lockout. as of this morning it is just a handshake agreement. if all goes as planned, the nba season will open on christmas day. wizards fans, though, you'll have to wait just one day long as washington's season opener will be december 26th against the nets at verizon center. the agreement is somewhat of a surprise considering the players union disbanded 12 days ago and filed an antitrust lawsuit against the nba. at the time commissioner david stern said the nba could be headed toward a, quote, nuclear winter, but friday both sides' lawyers held a 15-hour secret meeting and early this morning announced they expect the season to be saved. the league plans to play a 66-game season once that collective bargaining agreement becomes official. step one, though, the nba players union must reform, then both parties will hold a vote. the players union needs a majority. the nba needs 15 of its 29 owners' votes. but both sides making concessions. >> a lot of work to be done, and a lot of places with a l
