this is nbc bay area news tonight. i am jessica aguirre. let's get you up to speed on the stories that we're watching tonight. his attorney says he's a piece-maker, but that peacemaker, a 20-year-old local football star is in the hospital tonight after police shot him several times outside a san jose restaurant. let's show you pictures of 20-year-old k'aun green given to us by his attorney. that attorney says the former mcclimbed standout was eating when he was threatened by several man. that triggered a brawl. and then that security video you're looking at shows him disarming another man who had been waving a gun. moments later he walked out the front door. police officers say they didn't know any of this when they arrived and they saw green in the restaurant entrance holding the gun. san jose's police chief says one officer fired after green refused to drop the weapon. the district attorney is disputing that account. >> this young man was not posing a threat to the officers or anyone in the restaurant, trying to pull the gun or threatenin

you're watching nbc bay area news tonight. >>> welcome back to nbc bay area news tonight, this is pretty unbelievable, but it happened. we reported last week about the cold case murder of a convenient store owner in san carlos. tonight, we have the exclusive details of how that cold case was cracked. it wasn't new technology or dna, instead it was good old fashioned luck. in 1993 ming was shot inside the devon shire little store during a botched robbery attempt. it was featured on america's most wanted. the case went cold until recently. ray in a hoffman ramos was arrested. police in oklahoma were searching her home as part of an unrelated investigation, when they found a personal journal, with something very shocking inside that journal. a confession. under a heading, things i regret, she allegedly wrote, the killing of a korean man during a robbery attempt in 1993 in san carlos. we should note, tang was taiwanese, not korean, but sources say details in her journal matched the robbery at tang's story. joining us now is jackson vander beck. this is pretty incredible. do we know why she m
