in the last hour, our nbc bay area look at that. you can see a shell of a building is all that remains. crews still dousing hot spots with water and take a look at this. there's so much water, parts of the store and behind it are flooded right now. special hazmat teams are being brought in to help pump that water out so it doesn't run into nearby waterways. >> marianne favro is back out there today. what are firefighters saying right now? >> reporter: firefighters tell us it appear the fire started in the lumber section of the store. if you take a look here, you can see where this roof collapsed. right now firefighters are mopping up, and there is still a lot of smoke out here, and they continue to douse the building with water. this fire spread so quickly, it went to five alarms in just 30 minutes. firefighters say the store did have fire sprinklers and they appeared to work. but it is possible some may have been overwhelmed by the intense heat from the fire. since it was a saturday, the store was packed with customers. amazingly,
