nbc meteorologist bill karins is tracking that rain for us. bill, good morning. >> good morning, i would rather have it on a monday than over the weekend, i guess a little silver lining to this of course, our friends in maine, and cape cod, did get some rain, from hurricane lee, and maine took it on the chin, they had about 75 to about 100,000 people without power at one point, a lot of those people got power back yesterday thankfully. the heavy rain is going to be lingering along the coastal areas. it looks like the heaviest stuff is going to be inside of i-95 for the most part towards the coast, new jersey is getting soaked right now that will push to new york city, so from the beginning of the morning rush hour around new york, that is when you should expect so heaviest rain amounts it does appear that later today, into tonight, we're going to be get another heavy soaking of rain boston up to an inch areas of maine, cape cod, another two inches possible. it has been rainstorm after rainstorm all summer long and appreciate a nice dry period

ian cole, nbc bay area news. >>> we could have a major strike. the united auto workers union says members will walk off the job if general motors, ford, and chrysler cannot agree to a new contract by midnight tonight. the union is calling for a 46% pay raise over four years. it also wants full pay for a four day work week and an end to the use of temporary workers. auto makers have countered with the 17% to 20% raise and added days off. if the two sides can't come to agreement the union says it will begin a rolling strike with the random walkouts at varying times. >> this is going to create confusion for the companies. it is going to keep them guessing on what might happen next. >> along with billions in economic losses a strike would put the big three u.s. auto makers at a competitive disadvantage because american plants building electric and foreign vehicles are nonunion and will continue to work a normal schedule. car buyers would likely see a hike in prices for both cars and parts. >> there are growing reports tonight that ukrainian president

trump sat down with nbc's kristen welker.they talked about his ongoing criminal cases, president biden, and much more. you can watch that full interview right here on nbc this sunday morning, 8:00 a.m. kristen welker, the new moderator of "meet the press." >>> another headline. more layoffs are coming to some big bay area tech companies. cisco plans to cut hundreds of jobs next month. 227 workers in san jose and 123 people in milpitas. this comes after cisco slashed more than 600 jobs back in march. we've also learned two other companies, context logic and planet logic pdc will eliminate jobs as well. yesterday we told you about more cuts at google. it's not clear how many people will be losing their jobs or lost their jobs, but "the new york times" is reporting hundreds of positions were cut at google. back in january, google slashed 12,000 jobs, which is about 6% of its workforce. >>> well, the shock and anger continues in oakland. plenty of people say this is a systemic problem for the city. oakland losing out on millions
