nbc bay area has this report. any sense of what he was peeping at?ood morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, sam. this morning the santa clara county sheriff's office tells us that this alleged peeping at santa clara valley medical center behind me took place in a non-patient part of the hospital. the man who was under arrest was taken into custody last night. here. his name is frereja ali and the received a tip last week that ali was allegedly peeping on at least one other employee from an outside window looking into a part of the building designated for the security staff and that whoever was inside the building was unaware of ali's presence. it's not clear what ali was looking at, but according to the penal code for the crime that he's been charged with, there was some sort of expectation of privacy, something that he allegedly violated. we're still waiting to hear back from the hospital. one reasonçó the sheriff's offi has released ali's mug shot picture, they are trying to get more information from people who might recognize him and see if t

nbc bay area cheryl hurd has more on the rescue, do we know what his beef was? >> reporter: well, it got a little tense for a moment there, but the good news jessica is that the trains are back on track here at the walnut creek station for about the next four hours. the good news the man who caused all of this is now safe. the contra costa fire investigators did what they do best. somehow they were able to gain his confidence while putting up the ladder. he thought about jumping on the side of it. but he didn't. he was put into an ambulance and taken away. this is the end result of all of this. a huge commuter mess at the lafayette station. you can see from sky ranger. it took place for about four hours. it caused a lot of frustration for a lot of people but some people took it all in stride. >> we got an alert saying that there was an incident on bart. so we left work a little bit early, got on a train and now we were dropped off at lafayette, and now we're going to another bus to take us to concord bart to get us to our cars. it has not been too bad. everybody

nbc bay area michelle roberts joins us from where it happened. police don't think the women involved are students. many student who is are walking by and learning about what happened say any time there's violence in the area near campus it's concerning. just a few months ago as an extra precaution following a shooting in the area. at 1:30 in the morning the cameras caught a brutal attack. the victim appears to be the woman in the dark clothing. police say one of the attackers was using a bottle as a weapon. about a minute into the attack someone throws the woman to the ground behind the wall and several of them start kicking her. the victim was able to get up and walk into the jack in the box. police showed up soon afterbut the suspects had already taken off. >> the police department, cops are so easy. they don't have time to keep coming all the time. it's understandable. that's why we took the extra step to put brand new cameras in here. >> reporter: they hope the cameras will deter other, many students tell us they no longer feel safe in campus
