people here in the bay area, though, are stepping up to help. nbc bay area's christie smith is live in w tony la russa's animal rescue station. christie? >> that's right, and we're standing next to the truck folks at the animal rescue foundation used to help bring back animals that were already in a shelter near the carr fire and bring them back here to the bay area to help make room for animals that were evacuated or displaced by that fire in shasta county. they say one shelter in that area has taken in hundreds of animals because of the fire, and that it's actually having to evacuate their main shelter and use a temporary location, so here in the bay area shelters are working together to help provide support. tony la russa's animal foundation made one trip and plans to make another. >> we pulled yesterday 14 dogs and 24 cats from havens, so that we can clear their shelter out, since thursday they've had to take in over 500 animals because of the fire. >> now, again, the animals here are the ones previously in a shelter and in need of a home. the h

nbc bay area is live at the restaurant. she has the latest on this investigation. >> reporter: i spoke with the owner who is also the chef and he said this restaurant is temp rarply closed. you can see why. the outside of this building is scorched near the kitchen and if you look up, you see where firefighters had to cut through the roof because of smoke in the attic. the fire started juts outside the kitchen door before 9:00 last night. when they got here they found the exterior wall in adjoining fence on fire. they were able to get the fire under control in about 15 minutes. the fire started outside the building in the same area where an arson fire started in 2014. damage in that blaze was so extensive he was forced to close for six months. now for the second time chef and owner david is looking at his burned restaurant. >> we're going to be open back up. it's not going to hold us back. >> he texted me and said there was another fire. he didn't know mump about it at the the time. >> reporter: investigators are looking int
