bay area counties. this is new helicopter footage of this all going down. the dramatic chase started in oakland this morning. nbc bay area spoke with firefighters. the main question is how did this happen? >> reporter: yeah, kris, it was certainly a brazen crime. to break into a fire station, take a clearly marked bright red fire engine, and then take it for a ride down two major highways. led police on quite the pursuit. >> 85 miles an hour. >> reporter: this was no fire drill. a view from above shows the suspect speeding away, leapolic a stolen fire engine. >> our fire apparatus, our tank wag wagon, was stolen from our fire house. >> reporter: oakland fire's battalion chief says fire crews from station 23 were out doing inspections when someone somehow broke in. >> the premises was secured when the crew left. all the doors and the windows were locked. >> reporter: and stole a brush patrol, a smaller engine used for wildland fires. >> feel a little violated, a little disheartened that somebody -- hopefully they're not from our community. but if they are that they would do this to our station. >> reporter: firef

nbc bay area has been talking to victims and is live with a story you will see only on nbc bay area. jodi? >> a house on this very street got burglarized just yesterday afternoon. in all four cases, the bad guys hit in the middle of the day made off with electronics and jewelry. police want everyone in the neighborhood to be on guard. this 67-year-old spent the dayworking in her garden. she is afraid as they went to home depot for gardening supplies and someone used a rock to breakthrough the slying glass door. the crooks ran off with at least $100,000 in family heirlooms and gold jewelry from her native iran. they stole computers and jewelry. >> they went up to the window and slid it back and sneaked in. >> at least four houses in the neighborhood have been targeted so far. they believe by the same ed run the houses, neighbors say everyone is worried. >> people getting robbed or at any time really. >> they are working on these photos you just saw. the suspects are driving a silver ford focus with california license plate ending in 066. folks here are hoping police catch them soon. l

however, so far none have been reported here in the bay area. nbc bay area sharon katsuda is live in san francisco where the protests are happening amid growing anxiety. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, scott. the protest is expected to start here at noon. i just got off the phone with an amazon spokesperson and he said that the company cannot comment on the clients they are working with but the group protesting today said amazon has migrant workers and the company is possibly working with i.c.e. by providing face recognition technology and we have yet to confirm that with the company. this is taking place while migrant support undocumented migrants are living in fear wondering if and when the i.c.e. will come for them. support groups say for the past few weeks because of the president's talk of raid they warned to report any i.c.e. activity and in san rafael they were spotted over the weekend but so far no word of any raids or arrests in the bay area. president trump said i did make arrests yesterday. >> many, many were taken out on sunday
