bay area. it was in santa clara county. since then, our world has changed. but one thing isn't changing, at least right now, the shortage of vaccines. here's nbc bay area's anoushah rasta. >> reporter: one year after the bay area's largest county confirmed its first case of covid-19, the numbers tell the story. more than 100,000 confirmed cases across the county. more than 1,300 of those were fatal. >> it's more than 80% of the deaths are in persons over 65 years of age. >> so this pandemic has added a significant work, stress, and increased demands on our health care systems and our health care workers. >> reporter: today santa clara county health officers dr. marty fencer shieb and dr. jennifer tong gave an update on the vaccinations. the doctors say more than 8% of the santa clara county residents have gotten at least one dose. providers have been vaccinating at least 6,600 people per day. and in the next seven days, 67,000 more people have appointments to get their shot. but the county says there is still one big problem. >> the bottom linest we have the ability to give the vaccines. what we don't have are enough vaccines provided to us. >

it is a glorious day, nbc bay area's kari hall tracking some spring-like weather. it's january and i am just delighted. kari? >> i know, isn't this great? even though we've still seen some fog in parts of the north bay, i wanted to show you the current visibility where it lingers in napa, as well as in santa rosa. it's cleared out there, but novato visibility is improving as well so once the fog clears out all across the bay area, we'll see more scenes like this, what we're seeing in san francisco with a lot of sunshine right now. now as we go through the forecast, we are going to have near record high temperatures for today, and we are looking at some of those highs in the upper 60s, and when we look at the extended forecast, it does not change. we are heading into some spring-like weather, highs in the low 70s, as we go into the weekend, but there will be a cooldown as we head into early next week, but it is all dry in this forecast, and we'll talk about the impacts of drought, that's coming up in the next microclimate forecast. scott? >> all right, kari. >>> we
