this is "nbc bay area news tonight." i'm raj mathai. we are kicking off a big, big weekend around here. sunshine and the year of the dragon. we're going to check in with the chinese new year parade in just a few minutes. >>> but we want to start with that dramatic midair rescue in the south bay. two workers hit a power line. san jose firefighters got the call for an electrical emergency at the crescent village apartment complex on zenka road. the men who were stuck were using what's called a boom lift to do some maintenance near the roof. but one workers touched the power line with his helmet. the jolt knocked him unconscious, and he was badly burned. but rescuers had to move slowly. >> what delayed the process of the rescue was pg&e has a very strict protocol for safety in order to go through to make sure the additional lines are not producing any power. >> the workers were eventually brought down and were hospitalized. firefighters say the two men were wearing protective gear, which helped them survive the shock. cal/osha is investiga
