david: you bought from ge-nbc universal, was that something natural for you?afraid you should not be in the content business? brian: there were people who had that worry. we had a dream that the perfect company, if you could create it from scratch, would be in distribution and content. both were good businesses, kind of symbiotic, so we had got into a certain scale, which matters, dabbled in content, the golf channel, regional sports networks, and along came the recession of 2008-2009, and ge wanted to sell nbc universal. the financial crisis -- we had been knocking on the door for a decade in one day they said, ok, and we jumped at it. david: things like hollywood studios, sometimes they like to hang out with the stars. that is not you? brian: that is not me. i care about movies, but i have never been on a movie set. david: there is a concept called net neutrality. 99% of americans probably do not fully understand. can you explain what net neutrality is and why it is a big deal? brian: to me, it can also be called regulation. so what do i think we stand for?

he got rid of the bulk of capital, sold off appliances, other businesses along the way like nbc universal paystment i think off, and is necessary for the company to exist as an industrial these days. this is what customers expect. they expect better quality service agreements, where you can really do predictive maintenance, see how your equipment will perform, and get the most out of it as possible. this is a necessary thing for ge to do, but it is painful in the process of getting to that result. vonnie: so shareholders are clearly not thrilled, especially once you might be hoping to who might be hoping to sell. at the ceo might not be very concerned about the short-term or intermediary stock performance, but is pricing the company for a long, long road ahead? >> i think you do want the ceo to be concerned about that to an extent, about meeting goals, and they have gotten a lot of flak for setting this to dollar, lofty, 2018 earnings-per-share goal that has gotten increasingly untenable as oil and gas markets have worsened. and they have stuck by that. so why did he do that? i think that

morgan stanley did downgrade the stock from overweight to equal weight and the disclosure note nbc universaloes own a stake in snap but when it comes to 27 ipos, they're the far from the worst from the group that distinction goes to blue apron. actually blue apron the fifth worst performer down 23% from the ipo price of $10 a share other names down as much as 55 any ipo futures in the pipeline? >> absolutely. i think when you talk about blue apron and snap, you have very similar kinds of stories to look at there very difficult for blue apron to have gone public in the face of amazon having just bought a whole foods. the question there is do they have a entry that somebody bigger and smarter like amazon can't copy same issue with snap the user growth has stalled. the daily active users has stalled out. why? instagram and facebook is able to, you know, replicate what snap has done. and use more resources like amazon can with blue apron to replicate what snap has dovenlt i think users are pausing. where are the new products what are they going to do? once you go public, you know, you have to pe

the year after a woman was found dead inside a home only blocks away from san jose state university's campus. >> nbcay area's bob redell has been working on this story. he joins us at police headquarters now. investigators spent a lot of time, nearly 14 hours, looking for clues at that scene. >> reporter: they did. good morning to you, laura and sam. i just spoke with san jose police within the past two minutes and the sergeant was telling me they are still looking for the suspect but they know that the suspect and victim knew each other. so so far no arrests in what is sadly the city of san jose's 15th homicide this year, which took place at a home on south 10th street. this is not far from the san jose state campus just a couple blocks away. someone called 911 around 5:00 last night and reported they heard several loud bangs from inside the home. officers arrived to find a woman inside who was shot at least once. she never made it to the hospital, was declared dead on the scene. police do not know what led up to the shooting, as i mentioned. they do believe the suspect and the victim knew each oth

nbc's ron mott has the details. >> reporter: tonight, the baffling disappearance of a 26-year-old chinese scholar at the university of illinois taking a twisted turn. june 9th, yingying zhang vanishes but not without a trace. officials say that's her taking a bus to sign an apartment lease. after missing a transfer bus she's last seen getting into a black car authorities now say was driven by 28-year-old brendt christensen who offered her a ride. her disappearance rattled the community. rallies were organized to find her. her dad flying in from china. according to the criminal complaint, christensen was recorded explaining how he kidnapped yingying zhang holding her at his apartment. officials say his phone was used in april to access a website where he visited a forum called abduction 101. including threads titled perfect abduction fantasy and planning a kidnapping. a former ph.d. student, christensen has been charged with federal court with kidnapping and could face life in prison if convicted. >> from the time she disappears till the time the fbi first interviewed him, three days went by. unfortunately, you can
