stanford university wants to let those students get the care they need closer to campus. nbc bay area's anousha rasta is live in san jose where some say location is key for victims of sexual assault and rape to report the crimes. anousha? >> reporter: terry, that's right. a stanford university student and advocate tells me she doesn't think one medical center is enough for the many victims out there. she believes a facility closer to stanford would encourage more victims there to come forward. for a victim of sexual assault, the experience is traumatizing. to report it, daunting. now imagine having to drive at least 45 minutes to an hour for an examine known as a rape kit to give evidence that could lead to prosecuting the rapist. right now the only facility to do that in santa clara county is in san jose. >> having to travel all the way to san jose is a significant barrier. many people on campus don't have cars. and then the idea of, are you going to go to do a rape cut, what, in an uber? >> reporter: they're working with santa clara county to make rape kits more accessible.
