he has this ad that i know you've been talk being in which romney talks about -- doesn't mention ne, he makes commitments and if people want to contrast that to newt gingrich, obviously that's fully intended by the romney campaign. he's also had his surrogates go after gingrich hard and again, it's fair game. they're running for president. >> brian: how long, chris, can newt gingrich stick by the mantra of, i will not attack, i will not attack my opponents? >> i don't think he's got it in him and i'm not sure it's necessarily the right thing. i understand there is a history in iowa. i think it was in 2004, dean and gephardt went after each other very hard. kerry sort of stayed above the fray and he ended up winning. so it can end up being a mistake to go after each other, particularly in iowa where they don't like rough politics. for example, when we had the fox debate, clearly some on the stage for the last time before iowa will want to go after gingrich at least and it will be interesting to see whether he says, that's fine, let them say what they want. i don't think so. >> steve:
