it was not pretty, but i won nebraska anyway. there's something about the midwest and its people and the way that folks pull together. and the degree to which, in this state, the kind of politics i talked about last night has always been there. there's a civility. that's part of the reason i wanted to come back here today. as i said last night, america is at its best when we see people as one people. not democrat first or republicans first, but americans first. that's our priority. that's harder to do during political season. i understand that. and you hear from a bunch of folks right across the river. and i don't know if the tv ads drift over here, but they're kind of depressing. and then you look at these ads, and there's some doom and gloom. everybody is saying america is in decline and everything is scary and let's find somebody to blame. and the point i wanted to make, the core thing i wanted to say last night was that's not the spirit that brought us so far. that's not how we traveled so far. that's not what i see every day

we have large piles of snow all along nebraska avenue. you can see a large one down there at the intersection with foxhall. there is another one that is behind me here. and these piles of snow are literally in the lanes of traffic. folks who are coming down nebraska avenue, they come up on to that huge mountain of snow there and they actually have to cross over the center line and drive on the wrong side of the road to get around it. we have a car that is making its way right now, you'll be able to see that happen as they continue on down the line here approaching the snow, right will, crossing the center line and it's actually on the opposite side of the road. and then scoots back over after passing the mound of snow. not a great situation. we do have some police in the area, but it is rather loosey-goosey. there is not actually anyone directing traffic. just sort of have their lights on alerting people to slow down. hopefully will this is going t improve now that we have the trucks on the scene. we're waiting for the front he said loado
