schools in the norfolk, nebraska area rejected proposals for transgender athletes. today, members from district 3 of the nebraska school activity assocation met in norfolk. the proposal that came closest to passing was one to allow students to participate in sports based on their gender at birth. 21 members voted "yes", but another 26 members voted "no." the second proposal only got 11 "yes" votes. had it passed it would have allowed students to identify with the gender on their birth which can be changed. battle creek superintenden t jay bellar says they'll consider all proposals that follow the wishes of the schools.
