i am the president of dog patch neighborhood association and chairman of green trust sf, which is a nonprofit in the central neighborhood which deals with trying to bring our existing infrastructure, sidewalks, and land. we have been working with san francisco beautiful on this situation. we want to urge you stick with the original order discouraging mounting any utility boxes on the sidewalks. if there are alternatives such as undergrounding or placed on private property. we are a historic district in dog patch. while it is nice there is extra consideration being made for a historic district, i don't understand why there is. i think every district is important in every neighborhood should be beautiful. with green trust, a private individuals have worked hours and hours with their own time and money, writing for grants that are given to organizations by people who wish to see beautiful neighborhoods. we have spent so many hours trying to make our neighborhoods beautiful. we work hard. i have one property owner who just spent $23,000 on permeable sidewalks and making a plan for a beautiful spo

the reach out to the merchants associations with the neighborhood associations? >> typically, this information is available to the public. we are required to provide that notice to any organization within the planning notification requirement as part of the process, if memory serves. supervisor weiner: i would definitely encourage -- i know the planning department makes a valiant effort to keep the current contact list on neighborhood associations. one example related to the m.t.a. was on 24th street and noe valley. mta put a bunch of bike parking facilities on it and did not contact cbd, the noe valley association responsible for a lot of the streets getting. of course everybody wanted to get the bike parking, but it was inconsistent with the cbd. that caused a bunch of consternation that ultimately got resolved. had there been better outreach by mta ahead of time, i think it is important to contact the people who are actually starting the public realm. >> similar to what we are currently doing with t-mobile foods in terms of notification -- with the mobile food

. >> i am president of the castro neighborhood association. i am representing the triangle neighborhood association, whose president is away on business. i have worked extensively with the project sponsor, and i have to urge you to not hear an appeal. i have worked on developing this. unfortunately, about a month after they were put into effect, mr. bronzino was violating them after attempts to working with him. nothing happened, so we finally called a meeting on february 25, at which members impacted by the noise were triggered. we agreed to reset the clock. all issues and would-be resolved by march 21, 2010. youthree sound checks later, thy they issued a notice about being in violation curiosa -- in violation. no response. the first response did not happen until august 10. git got so bad, finally we had o ask him to revoke it because they could not get their act together if you're a good -- to get their act together. i feel terrible about the employees, but he is the one to blame. he did not do what he originally said he would do it in 2009

at night, i volunteered as a neighborhood association leader and also as the chair of an affordable housing organization and learned so much about the challenges facing our neighborhoods and facing a really special tools that are the urban villages that we live in. sen for assistance -- facing really the special jules -- jewels that are the urban villages that we live in. san franciscans during campaigns read everything they are sent in the mail. love to meet candidates. a gauge with them in conversations. i also learned how important it is to build bridges between communities, particularly communities of diversity we have. i was just incredibly honored to have been elected in november 2008. my district really encompasses the ethnic and economic diversity that exists throughout the city. as a result, i think my district is really emblematic of the entire city. you can find every political perspective that you could possibly want in district 3. so oftentimes, the interest of my district and the city really are quite a line, so i do not have to think about this difference is probably quite as

i would to speak to the alamo square neighborhood association. we got e-mail from all across the city where people made the same statements all over and over again. >> i like this legislation because where i live on 20, i hear them every day. sometimes, early saturday morning going up market street. i do like this. i have the same concerns. there are some smaller and smaller operators in the city. i have actually been -- if there's something that we can phase in with those operators, this is the big double decker buses that are really interested and i would hate to penalize the smaller mom and pop operators which there are very few of in the city. we can grandfathered them in and so we can meet these operations immediately, give them something they can afford. they have been here for generations of with like to see something working out with those type of people. the big ones, do something, shut them up. >> to do you have any plan for the smaller operators? >> well, i guess my plan would be to go and see if we could have them on a separate time l

as president of the neighborhood association, i helped lead the charge against particular chain stores coming into the store because they were inappropriate, and we beat both of them at the planning commission. the process does work. with the signatures that have been collected, and it looks like they are largely from the richmond, that does not bode well for them thursday night at the planning commission, and i believe we should allow the process to work, and i guarantee you this will not be the last micro chain store that we will see, because we will see on a very ad hoc basis in particular chain store coming into a particular neighborhood, and instead of letting the planning process work itself out, we will see the planning process ban this particular type of chain store in this particular neighborhood with the absolute best of intentions, but i think we will end up with an even more convoluted planning code and a hodgepodge of chain store regulation, so i will be voting against this tonight, and it is not to express an opinion that i think that petco should go into geary street, an

we met with the neighborhood association, property owners. we raised money in all three of those groups and we started the plan. we initially sent out petitions in 2009, and that was a bad time. the economy was not doing well. it was clear that no one wanted to spend extra money. we looked back at our plan and we've dropped the assessments by $50,000. half we tried it again. -- we tried it again. i had no idea it would take almost two years to get to this point off off. because it took so long, i'm not sure if this is on the record or not but this is a letter that went out with those bright before they submitted petitions to the board explaining that it is taking that long. -- this is a letter that went out to those right before they were submitted to the board. we had different meetings. one was the merchant specific. there was one where everyone was welcome. we set up a website that had articles on bids across the country. our management plan, the engineering report are all available on our website. it was open for discussion during that ti

neighborhoods. there are differences within my own district. there is the planning association for the richmond and a number of activists and an increase of 500 to 700 more boxes as an encroachment on the commons by a private entity. i know in at&t's letter from us, they challenged the notion that there is a misperception they are not paying to use the public right of way. there is a requirement set by state law. at&t is a private entity that should either be paying for the public use of space or are regulated very strictly. if they want to double that, even increasing 500, on the more narrow environmental question about the planning department granting of the exemption i do feel that the addition of the boxes, whether it is 500, 700, or 100 could lead to a potential adverse impact. i think there should be further environmental review. that is why i plan to vote against the exemption. but i do appreciate at&t for the jobs and other benefits. i still bear on the side of environmental groups and neighborhood organizations and that feel we need to prevent more encroachment on a we
