by 1967, howard hughes came into the state of nevada and one of the effects of him in the state of nevadaas that it legitimized gaming operations. by 1974, harrah's had gone public on the stock exchange. that heralded the new era of gaming throughout nevada and eventually throughout the united states. what we have here are things from our educational collection which allows people to look at things, physically handle them. the purpose is to gather, protect, and present the history of gaming. this allows us to give demonstrations of various types in this instance of things that are considered to be special work for cheating devices. i take a magnet here, i have a cube. it is a magnetic dice. they can also work in the opposite direction. this is a magnetized lead ball. it will stick to the magnet. dice cube unprocessed out of the 20's. this cube is interesting because it has not been spotted yet but you can see there is a mechanical device in the cube itself. by tapping the device solidly against a table, it will shift the center part to one side of the cube to make it special. tap it again

nevada has to teach mining. unr is the land-grant university here in nevada. unr was founded in 1874 in elko, and the elko experiment was considered a bit of a failure. nobody graduated in 10 years. so they moved the university to reno in 1885, and the first building was completed in 1886. the first class graduated in 1891. and mining education at unr in that time was a lot of starts and stops, was not very consistent. there would be a few semesters during which no mining classes were offered. and in those days, unr, in those days it was called the university of nevada, was just a few buildings on the south end of what was then the evans alfalfa ranch. as the university moved north, they bought more of the alfalfa ranch. in 1907 several politicians in nevada thought it would be a good idea to honor john mackey by having a statue of him on the grounds of the capital building. so they approached john mackey's heir, clarence mackey, about funding the statue. clarence mackey agreed and reached out to the artist, who

i will caution one thing about the nevada poll. caucuses are hard to poll.go balk to the iowa caucus. every poll -- there is 13 polls that had president trump winning. senator ted cruz ended up winning the iowa caucus. reason being is to do it right you purchase a caucus list from the state party which is enormously expensive. most of these media polls don't want to do that and spend the cash which is why they tend to be off. when you look at polls like iowa and nevada just keep that in mind....
