"we have 2000 heads of horses that live out here on these ranges we have issues from 95 to 395, 50 to i-80 so when you're in those areas you need to be cautious." two horses were hit on highway 50 east of dayton early thursday morning... between mark twain avenue and rainbow drive. the horse hit by this car came through the windshield and was killed on impact. "hitting a horse is very much like hitting an eld you need to beweare of it becuause in a car you're normally going to take out the legs and they're going to come through the windshield." the driver was transported with minor injuries. the other horse was the victim of a hit and run... that driver took off... and the injured horse was euthanized. the highway patrol is taking the lead on that case... officials say if you do hit an animal, you shouldn't leave the scene.
