news, things have calmed down a bit. we do have a risk for strong storms today from charleston up into western new york but we don't really look at tornadoes out of this, more going to be damaging winds, some hail and some heavy rain. as you can see right now, we have already got heavy rain down through the southern gulf. look at how long this front stretches all the way up into the great lakes. we had tornado warnings earlier this morning along the texas coast. those have since expired. so, that's the good news there now, the next big story, of course, going to be the heat. big area of high pressure ridge, keeps the jetstream up to the north so the high acts like a heat pump bringing those winds up from the south and along the coast. look what the we expect as far as records today. burlington could see a record 86, 87 degrees today. albany getting close to the record of 89. new york city, shy of the record of 92. but boston, that's the big story. the running of the boston marathon, it is going to be hot, temperatures in the mid to upper 80s, going to be big problems there. we will look at that more in the next half hour.
