we're just starting to see the clouds get darker in new york city. storms are mostly over new jersey and the hudson valley. have the umbrella on standby, even a few showers ahead of the front could arrive. the severe thunderstorm warning is from warrant county. the strongest storms, however, are over pennsylvania. a watch has just been issued now for all of new jersey, new york city, western end of long well. that will go until 8:00 tonight. it's the next four hours we have this threat. we're at 77 degrees. that's a good 10 above average, even pushing 80 in a couple spots over interior new jersey. look at the winds and the streamlines, they're flipping out of the south, especially off the ocean. we have gusts nearby over 20, approaching. that could bring down some tree limbs. there's the first downpour heading into warren county. blaise town get ready for a downpour and over to hope as well. the lightning with that particular storm has had a history of producing lightning. the strongest storms are headed towards allentown but eventually into southern

york city police officer murdered in new york city in the last eleven months. he's a five-year veteran of the nypd. he was not married. >> this is what we know so far. at 8:30 last night officer randolph holder and his partners assigned to housing bureau psa5 responded to a call of shots fired. officers arrived at the scene and gave chase. there was an exchange of gunfire between a male suspect and two officers. officer holder was shot in the head. and a short time later just before 9:00 the law officers took the suspect into custody. at 10:22 p.m. officer holder was pronounced dead at cornell medical center. >>> we have two reports on officer holder and the investigation. eyewitness news reporter mallory hoff is at the precinct where he worked. we begin with dray clark live at the scene. >> reporter: just down the block behind me here on east 120th street is where officer randolph holder and his partner had that deadly encounter with the suspect. overnight police recovered several shell casings as well as a loaded magazine
