we are talking about michigan and parts of new england. in the next couple of days there's a new storm system that will develop down here towards the gulf of mexico. see the rain we have, watch what happens over the next couple of days, because that will make its way to new england and bring 15 and 24 inches of snow for some locations. here towards the north-west we are looking at snow showers from montana. things have improved towards seattle over the last couple of days. temperatures are expected to go up as we start the new year on wednesday. 50 degrees, portland at 42. we'll see a mostly cloudy day. temperatures at 40. the break in the rain will be short lived, more coming into play on thursday, turning to thunderstorms on friday. temperatures are expected to come down. here across the south-west we are looking at some cloudy conditions across the north, clearer for calve, down towards the south. we'll see los angeles stay lone at 74 degrees. remember last week the temperatures were high. we were looking at 80 there's. los angeles, a hi

this all wanting down in terms of snowfall, but it is still blowing in parts of new england. we got a pretty easy overall because it had about four inches so far new york city. 13.5 in boston and blizzard conditions out on the cape as well into long island. those winds are gusting around 40 plus miles per hour. visibility is less than a quarter-mile. ~ warnings across the northeast. stay home, don't travel in the northeast if you can help it. conditions will improve this afternoon when the wind starts to diminish. the cold is going to stick around through the day today and into tonight. current temperatures across the re region into the single digits. notice how the cold air has been spilling into our area and tomorrow morning it really will be the worst of the cold. 25 degrees and easy but look at the windchill. per hour with gusts in the 40s at times. we are seeing some teens on the map, notice or colder air, martinsburg, winchester 16 degrees, 23 in culpeper. but whenington park you look at wins, 20 miles per hour, 28 miles per hour 39 miles per hour. that makes us feel lik

louis in the white through indianapolis, up into the great lakes and through new england. and that will head towards the bigger cities in the northeast as we go through this evening. how much snow? it's not the snow so much as the combination of snow and the cold and the wind that will be the factor that makes this a memorable storm, especially in eastern new england, bost con get over a foot. it will be so cold, it will be light and powdery. lesser totals in pittsburgh and new york, chicago, most of it has fallen. so a lot of flights that will be canceled during the day will be in areas of the ohio valley and tonight and tomorrow in the northeast. up in the pacific northwest, we've got kind of a very warm, for this time of year, a lot of moisture, pretty warm system that's coming onshore. snow levels above 6,000 feet, northern portions of the cascades. a very warm system and temperatures in the 40s in seattle. light rain will continue to push through the state of washington during the day today. so the forecast, we continue to be dry and warm. that's kind of the weather p
