and that's what we're going to see across the northeast in new england. rom the national weather service in new york city that central park broke a record rainfall record yesterday. um, they picked up 4.45 inches of rain. the previous record which was from the late-19th century, so a longstanding record, was 4.19 inches. so this is already a record-setting rain event as the system pushes to the north. we are going to see more in the way of records being broken across the northeast in terms of rainfall. the save grace here is that -- um -- hurricanes, tropical systems, to be really strong, they want sea surface temperatures -- that's how warm the -- the ocean is. they want those temperatures to be like bathtub warm. 78 degrees fahrenheit or hotter. right offshore of new england, we've got temperatures that are, like, low-to-mid-70s. so that's going to help this system break down a little bit. and probably make landfall as a strong tropical storm. but it could be close to a category 1 hurricane so we continue to have these hurricane warnings hoisted for long
