with the new georgia project has done so far is register more than 23,000 voters in the deep south. in the state of georgia. we have focused on voters of color, because those voters are the lead. they are the fastest changing demographic, but they are also the ones that if you can engage them now, you can engage them permanently. investment in the south is an investment in the change of this nation. it is the change of progress so that we're not simply talking about ending incarceration at rates that have not been seen anywhere else in the industrialized world, we're talking about closing that income and equality gap. the best way to close that gap is to actualize that human capital that exists in that community. if you want to see education change in the country, educate the poorest and those kids of color. all of those social policies that we like to talk about can be lived in the deep south. they can be lived in georgia and mississippi and alabama and south carolina. and if they are lived and realized, they can be exported to the rest of the country. as i said at the beginning, i

news. >>> investigators in georgia are hoping an autopsy will provide more information in the case of a babyo died after being left inside a hot car for several hours. the baby's father, justin ross harris, you see him here, is charged with felony murder. his 22-month-old sign died of heat stroke last wednesday. harris told them he forgot to drop off his son at day care and instead drove straight to work. he didn't discover his son until after he left work that afternoon. the autopsy could help police determine if the information the father gave to them is accurate. this case in georgia is a reminder to all of us about the dangers of kids and cars and the summer heat. nbc 10's jesse gary is live in montgomery county. there's an average of 38 deaths every year due to children being left alone in hot cars. >> reporter: add to that a recent survey that found a quarter of adults admit they have intentionally left a child in an unintended vehicle. the weather and temperatures vary. officials with aaa say that is never a good idea. so far this year, there have been 13 deaths due to kids left in ve
