steele getting information out to people in the greater new orleans area. there are two new tornado threats just now by the national weather service. one they said is moving forwards the west bank. again, for people not familiar with the new orleans. that's actually in the eastern part of the city. a second one, a tornado threat, continuing north of livingston, louisiana. again, we have the possibility here of multiple tornadoes existing within one storm. very quickly, again, on the left side of your screen, that is the neighborhood of new orleans east. that is where we are seeing the pictures of the most damage. that's also where we're receiving reports on social media that there was the most damage in the city from these tornadoes. >> brian lagarde is on the phone right now, director of project nola. you're there in new orleans, as i understand it. what can you tell us? what are you seeing around you right now? >> well, the weather's bad out here. regrettably we've had a tornado touch down in new orleans east. we have emergency units that have responded to

there is also a nasa production facility in new orleans which has been hit. we have seen pictures of its giant vertical assembly building, the place where they used to build the giant external fuel tanks for the space shuttle and all of the exterior clapping on that building, basically ornamental cladding has been stripped away, there it is. that tall building in the center of the screen is supposed to be white, but all of the cladding has been pulled away, the building obviously is still standing, and nasa does a great job of making sure that its buildings can withstand the elements, but that is what has hit the nasa michoud plant. they are if you look on the far distance, the horizon they are, you two funnel clouds touching down, this in the new orleans area. very, very severe weather there. >> jenna: want to mention to our viewers who should be in that area, the tornado warning is in effect for the next 15 minutes or so, the advice from weather forecasters is to take shelter immediately. so this is still very much an ongoing situation as we get our first i

david begno is in a heavily damaged neighborhood in new orleans.avid, good morning. >> nora, good morning. this is new orleans east and they had up to two to three feet of water during hurricane katrina and i cannot tell you how many people have said to me, this was worse than katrina in that they had so little time to get to a safe place. we're about to show you some video which is incredible to watch when you consider the furry of mother nature and the fact that there were no major injuries. the first tornado hit at 10:00 in the morning. and they kept popping up and nailing this area for the next two hours. as nearly a half dozen powerful tornados barrelled through southeastern louisiana, people recorded the destruction as it happened. debris filled the area and dangerous winds flipped and pushed what appears to be a trailer through a mall parking lot. surveillance footage shows the roof of a building blowing off and smashing into parked cars. in the background, an 18 wheeler is flipped on its side. a tornado that was at least an ef-2 with winds
