news. the frisch closure in the north bay including the richmond san rafael bridge all because of police activity. good afternoon, i'm tori cam b we begin with this breaking news. the -- campbell. we begin with this breaking news. the richmond san rafael bridge and part of a busy highway have been shut down. police are dealing with a gunman who barricaded himself at the extended stay hotel on francisco boulevard east. the standoff began several hours ago. these are pictures of newschopper2 of the hotel. you can see some of the police cars outside. authorities shut down the bridge as well as interstate 580, from sir francis drake to bellham boulevard. authorities say the gunman is suspected of a stabbing at a san rafael superparent earlier this earlier -- supermarket earlier this week. they say he's holed up at the hotel. police say he fired a shot up the highway before 580 was closed. there are no reports of any injuries at this time. joining me by phone is sergeant trent cross from the chp. good afternoon, sergeant. >> hi. good afternoon. can you tell us why the decision was made exactly to shut

this is a 76 station in richmond on carlson and 55th street. we just got some newmation from richmond police about exactly what happened here. a man driving an suv was hit by gunfire. you can see some of the bullet holes there in the brick posts there at the gas station. his vehicle then crashed into a natural gas line that is located in the back of this parking lot. then a second man was also struck by gunfire and richmond police say he then climbed onto the roof of the motel next door to try and escape. this all happened around 10:40 last night. the men were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening gunshot wounds. they are expected to survive. several witnesses told us there was a lot of gunfire, 20 to 35 shots in rapid succession, they say is seemed to go on for several minutes. when this gas line ruptured, residents and people staying in the hotel were evacuated as a precaution. overall, it was a pretty chaotic scene according to richmond police. >> it was very unusual finding a victim on the roof of the building, having a gas line ruptured and just the

news story from the east bay. anne makovec is in rich getting more details about a deadly shooting that happened early this morning. she joins us now from richmond with the very latest. anne, good morning. >> reporter: sad new information right now frank. we have learned that one person that was in the home has died after being shot. another person is in the hospital critically injured. now, i'm in richmond right now on moran avenue a dead end. as you can see here behind me the house where this happened is on the right side of the road just across from where you can see those police lights and police are investigating right now. there was a family home at the time a couple of children, parents and a grandma, as well. and home invasion at least one robber walked into the house through the rear and ended up shooting two people. again, one person did die at the home. still in there right now. another person taken to the hospital. the family has been taken down to the police station for questioning. as for suspects right now, police have two persons of interest in custody. they do not know, though, if those are the people responsible for this home i
