will take place right behind me and we are going to give you a footage of a new day a new hope for san franciscans in californians in general because now we have the vaccines in town with thousands more are arriving by the end of the week for our entire state. so it took months in the making. but finally we are seeing progress as far as the vaccinations unfortunately it probably will not make a dent as far as the surge of covid-19 cases unless right now you're waking up to a voluntary shelter-in-place san francisco has 30% icu beds, so that's a well above the 15% mark that the state is using as a jumping off point for mandatory shelter in place in the bay area we are around 17% so still hovering above that threshold. but in san francisco, they are fearful and less it is drastically. slow down that they could run of icu beds within the next 3 to 4 weeks because they have seen the cases almost double from july right now we're seeing about 200 32 cases of covid-19 every day back in july it was at a high at around 130 and we got a chance to talk to the doctor. he says it's all on us not them to slow i

san franciscans rise to the challenge. the virus doesn't care that there's a vaccine that's coming, and at the end of this pandemic, it's around the corner, or that it's christmas or new years. unfortunately, it will get the upper hand if we don't continue to adapt our behaviors as a city. next slide, please. i'll speak a little bit about the regional stay at home order, and what that has meant for san francisco and for the state. so as i said before, we're at a very different environment than we were in march and even in july. all areas of the state are in very widespread areas of transmission, and covid is surging in the bay area and in san francisco. as just one example, while we just talked about our case rate being up to 30.9 per 100,000 daily in san francisco, it is 73.2 in the u.s. overall per 100,000, and it is 109.3 in california. so we're faring relatively well, but our risk of transmission is tied to the virus that is always around us, and it is higher now than it's ever been. next slide, please. the california regional stay at home order really imposes a series of roll backs and restrictions, and they've done this based on areas where fewer than 15% of the

san franciscans rise to the challenge. the virus doesn't care that there's a vaccine that's coming, and at the end of this pandemic, it's around the corner, or that it's christmas or new years. unfortunately, it will get the upper hand if we don't continue to adapt our behaviors as a city. next slide, please. i'll speak a little bit about the regional stay at home order, and what that has meant for san francisco and for the state. so as i said before, we're at a very different environment than we were in march and even in july. all areas of the state are in very widespread areas of transmission, and covid is surging in the bay area and in san francisco. as just one example, while we just talked about our case rate being up to 30.9 per 100,000 daily in san francisco, it is 73.2 in the u.s. overall per 100,000, and it is 109.3 in california. so we're faring relatively well, but our risk of transmission is tied to the virus that is always around us, and it is higher now than it's ever been. next slide, please. the california regional stay at home order really imposes a series of roll backs and restrictions, and they've done this based on areas where fewer than 15% of the
