you can see the darker shading of blou across upstate new york through massachusetts and also northern parts of connecticut. now, the other big concern out there is ice. we do have reports of freezing rain coming down across portions of the new york city area and through connecticut and rhode island. you can see the rain/snow line parked over the entire region. we'll have those concerns for freezing rain continuing throughout the afternoon hours down through parts of new jersey as well so ice is going to be an issue out there. not just when freezing rain is coming down but also as we head into tonight because temperatures will get very cold behind the snow system. we do have winter storm warnings through upstate new york and even into new england. some areas could be looking at potentially more than a foot of snow especially across eastern parts of maine. otherwise, as far as additional snowfall accumulation to what you already picked up potentially more than eight inches in boston and seven inches in the city of portland. so you still have a lot more snow to go out there across those areas in new england

we are getting a burst of snow for long island and new york up towards connecticut, providence and bostoney could get upwards of a foot when all is said and done. they issued these weather advisories all the way down to the atlantic. it will be very cold overnight. all of the slush and moisture on the roads and seahawks side walks. we are going to have a flash freeze. look at the forecast. this is why we are concerned. we have a lot of moisture working its way in. mostly a snow event for new england. but temperatures are falling rapidly overnight tonight. wet surfaces will freeze and ice over. that will be the big story. 16 in new york. 20 in philadelphia. 16 in boston. all of that snow of course will remain in place over the next week or week and a half. the lows will be very cold for the next seven days. we are watching the potential for another storm thursday and friday that could potentially bring more snow for new england. >> real bundle of joy you are. let's head out to indiana where it is much worse. jeff is alive along lake michigan. wow. about an hour east of chicago. a lot of sn

clearing out of new york still in connecticut, rhode island, massachusetts, up towards maine we have the blizzard warnings in effect until sunday night with those winds. so any snow that's on the ground with winds in excess of 40, 50, 60 miles per hour in some cases along the coast, hurricane-force winds will cause blizzard conditions. and you are not going to be able to travel at all. again, the windchills behind this, we are hoping we don't have power outages because some of the coldest air of the season, some of the coldest air in years with the windchills factoring in near minus 20 and minus 30 degrees. so really dangerous as we head into sunday. and the same for monday. and we have another storm system to bring the potential for an ice storm, an ice storm across the south. then we'll watch this potentially develop into our next nor'easter on wednesday. so i wish i had better news on this valentine's day, but of course people are urged to stay safe. we'll keep you posted. back to you. >> thank you j.d. janice dean. >>> the pentagon is sending more than 4,000 troops to kuwait. >>
