now to that breaking news on long island where a chaotic chain of events left one person in the hospital and another in handcuffs. "today in new york's" katherine creag is in patchogue. kat, what happened? >> reporter: darlene, we have new information. we just talked about the car lot owner who whose office is there. this is where the driver ended up. according to the car lot owner, the car lot owner said he had never seen so many police officers in one place. it all started around midnight. there was a crash between two cars in holtsville on the l.i.e. near exit 62 going eastbound. we're told one of the drivers got out of his vehicle on foo and start to go run toward a parking lot where he stole a tractor-trailer and took off in it driving east towards patchogue. in the middle of all that, a good samaritan reportedly was hit by a car as they tried to chase the driver. the driver in the original crash ended up here at patchogue. he crashed the tractor-trailer into a utility pole at at route 112. he tried to break into the office of the used car lot and we just talked with the owner of that car lot who said this. >> broke in here. the
