down here in lower manhattan in the surrounding blocks around the new york stock exchange. we are on one intersection where there has been pretty much a standoff between police and protesters and there was a barricade up preventing them from going any closer to the new york stock exchange and on the last few minutes we have seen some arrests. people were carried out and how we have seen, also, more police showing up at this intersection where we are with handcuffs. the police got on the loud speaker just a short time ago telling protesters to get on the sidewalk. they have blocked the intersection in this block right near the stock exchange and it's pretty much protesters just kind of in this standoff with police. it's been, you know, a very charged atmosphere. certainly tense at times. but mostly peaceful. you might hear in between chanting there is fans behind me. you're hearing that music. but this is just the first of the number of events today that protesters plan to hold in new york city. >> so, mary, among the other events for lack of a better word that some of these

the protestors, to live pictures, protestors are far out numbering the police now near the new york stock exchange they gathered here in the park this morning and marched near the new york stock exchange they are being kept away by a line of police and police are still streaming in. the level of tension began to increase an hour or so ago when i was following protestors in to that area. since then we have seen video of several arrests taking place as this happened, people trying to work, they are also upset at the protestors they can't get in to get to their jobs yet the protestors trying to discorrupt, trading, so yeah, this massive crowd going on there, police now getting far more aggressive with the number of protestors as the number continues to grow. situation there, getting more tense as this goes on. as we move into the afternoon, when you see that amount of people, you look at the aerial view, 3:00 p.m. this afternoon protestors, will try and discorrupt transportation. the big question here is whether or not they spread the message or whether the people get the message and turn against wha
