trailedders standing by at -- traders standing by at the new york stock exchange and, of course, the x. mark newton at the new york stock exchange, let's talk about the big swing that we're seeing on the dow, mark. what do you make of it? >> real roller coaster of a session, we tried to move higher, fail ld, tried to move lower, and that's an area to focus on, and that's right near 1765 for the s&p. until we break those and really break the broader uptrends are in place really for the last year or so, it's tough to make much of this pullback just yet. if anything, we started to see real signs of fear just in the last couple days. the vixx has been up over 50%, i think, since last tuesday. so in a very short period of time we've seen implied volatility start to rise, also the put to call for equities spike briefly over one. those are a couple of things that suggest, yes, there are some signs of fear in this market. for now the short-term trend is still down, so we're going to see more signs of stabilization. the s&p probably needs to get back up over 1810 at least in the near term to s
