. ♪ bill: shocking news, over half of newark public schools tested positive for elevated levels of leadng water. a new mandate for schools to test their water for lead. i was at a press conference in trenton with the governor outlined his knew plan. >> elevated lead levels. that is why today i am directing the new jersey department of education to address concerns about lead levels by strengthening regulations that already require the provision of safe drinking water to mandate lead hazard testing and all our schools. >> we 1st learned about the problem in newark. after that, revelations all over the state. priorstate. prior to this the governor have been hesitant to introduce a mandate. a part of the proposal, he is asking the legislature for 10 million for testing and about 3000 schools statewide.3,000 schools statewide. there are major health concerns for children exposed to lead. thousands of students attended the schools and tested positive. i asked the governor and if he knew the results of the test and if they influenced his decision at all for mandating water testing. >> we have
