in newberry. our mike desumma has been checking out flooding all along the newberry county area this afternoon. newberry. charles, sam the city shows no signs of drying out at this point. over the last hour another another heavy downpour made its way through. that's been happening frequently since late this morning. here you can see scott's creek off wheeler street where the water level's been much higher today. higher waters been the common thing along several creeks and streams in and around the city. in one part of silverstreet today they've been keeping their eye on the saluda river. it topped its banks months ago during the historic floods --- causing a lot of damage to homes that sit at the saluda river resort. residents told me there are several people --- who are still left trying to recover from that. larry bennett --- silverstreet "uhh it got bad..campers right there.they was all under water. it was all messed up. tables and stuff right there in the bushes where it flooded a lot of stuff

the heavy rains are leaving their mark in parts of newberry county. a few homes along creeks and evacuated our mike desumma has been in parts of the county all day today. he joins us now from mower street wit more. samantha, charles this stretch of the street is one of several roads that had to be closed off because of the rain. the reason is scotts creek runs right under it. there are homes that sit along the creek on wheeler road --- and those are the ones where we were told some residents had to leave today because of the rain. flooding also was seen on city --- about 10 from what dot crews told us. one was amelia street where an overflowing city --- about 10 from what dot crews told us. one was amelia street where an overflowing creek bed caused a cascade of water to pour over the road like a waterfall. meanwhile in the town of silverstreet outside of newberry --- people in the saluda river resort were watching the banks close to their homes. the saluda river runs right by a trailer park there. during october's flood several mobile homes wound up

today's flash flooding has already left its mark in newberry county. heavy rains caused several roads to be closed. amelia street was cut off by the creek bed topped its banks. in many spots where water flows through the county you could see water levels getting higher. dot and city crews have been working together to keep the roads safe. officials hope the water runs off before the next batch of rain moves in. just into the newsroom: sce&g will open one spill gate overnight at the saluda hydro facility. that'll happen at 4 this morning--an additional 18,000 cubic feet per second could flow into the lower saluda river. officials are going to continue to montor lake levels over the next 48 hours to see if anything else needs to be done--we'll continue to monitor that situation. in missouri: flooding continues to rock towns outside of st louis tonight: bridges and highway overpasses are now completely under water in the town of valley park. -12/14 deaths caused by water sweeping away cars -gov. jay nixon--state of emergency activated--evacuation and safe
