he hired two new staffers in new hampshire, in south carolina he's made two new hires as well including a woman named nancy mace, the first woman to ever graduate from the citadel, now working on donald trump's campaign in south carolina. individually, none of those hires, none of those announcements is the sort of thing that would make for a spectacular and entertaining television from a slbty candidate. none of those is a celebrity move at all. none of them zingers. but they are the serious staffing hires that will impress whether or not donald trump's campaign for president gets treated as a political campaign rather than just an ongoing and admittedly hilarious publicity stunt. on the political basic, stuff like staffing, stuff like polling was one of the biggest days donald trump has had since he started running for president. the political news started with this rocket from public policy polling. public policy polling is generally described as a democratic-leaning firm, they are. they were also distinguish bid their accuracy in the last round of presidential polling. ppp put out a

in new windsor, checkey beckford, news 4 new york. >>> tropical storm erika is moving over the dominican republic right after lashing puerto rico with heavy rains and high winds. fema has deployed teams to puerto rico and florida governor rick scott declared a state of emergency ahead of the approaching storm, which could make landfall there by monday. that means sandbags are being lled and crucial supplies like water are being stock piled. storm team 4 meteorologist nice huff is tracking erika for us. what's the latest? >> right now, shiba, it's threatening the dominican republic and haiti. heavy rain bands move over the dominican republic now and the storm will continue moving west at 20 miles per hour. top winds at 50 miles per hour. we know it has a history of producing flooding rains and power outages because of the wisnds. now it will move towards cuba later tonight and tomorrow. and as it enters cuba, it moves over cuba, it will weaken to a tropical depression. ill waiting to produce a lot of rain and possibly power outages with the winds. winds will be down to 35 miles per hour.

i am calling about the city of new orleans and people of new orleans. i started going there 32 years ago when i would go to a golf course in james, louisiana, and we went for the weekend and i married a lady from weuz in '83, and in the last 32 years we have been to new orleans at least 15 times and we have been there six times since katrina when the most recent was last september. each year we go back to find that the town is much better and it's much cleaner, and i feel much safer there. i think the police force are more friendly, and mainly to people of new orleans, the people that own the businesses are much friendlier, and i think even the prices actually have been lowered and i feel much safer there now with the way they built the levee in case we are caught in a hurricane, make a wrong turn and hit what i didn't think i would, and just overall i think the town has improved so much as far as being cleaned up, and some new restaurants have been added, and like i say, i still go to the same ones, and people seem like it's much friendlier before katr

in trenton new jersey. lawmakers putting off their vacations to deal with the recent new jersey transit delays that have impacted hundreds of thousands of commuters. eyewitness news reporter anthony johnson joining us from the state capitol with what can be done about those frustrating delays. anthony. >> reporter: right now david an amtrak official is still on the stand talking before a senate committee telling them that the resources for the system stretched to the limit. he's also saying if a new tunnel is not built right away, any upgrades made to the system, these problems that we saw during the week of july 20th will continue to happen. these problems need to be addressed right away. now the warnings are dire. the future of the region is at hand and amtrak claims if major improvements are delayed any longer, the problems like we saw for a week will continue and become much more frequent. the age of the system is the number one problem. thus the call to move forward with the new tunnel called the gatew
