hello and welcome to "bbc news". president obama and the british prime minister david cameron have had talks at the white house saying they see eye to eye on every major challenge before them. accusations of the british oil company bp lobbying for the release of the lockerbie airliner bomber. both mr. obama and mr. cameron said the decision to release him was wrong. i asked our correspondent if the meeting was deemed a success. >> i think everyone would say it was a success. there is a warm relationship between the men. they spent three hours at the white house discussing a range of issues including the middle east, and the bp oil spill. the conference was dominated by the release of the only man convicted for the 1988 lockerbie bombing. there have been calls to reopen investigations into what bp's role was in his release on compassionate grounds next year. when this is discussed in the post meeting, the prime minister reiterated he thought the decision to release him was wrong. >> in the interest of both their count

news. >> the bridge officials concerned about those small nicks in the metal on the bridge said they have come up with a plan to prevent future fractures. in fact you may remember this this is the high bar with the bay bridge was closed over the labor day weekend last year. caltrans discovered this cracked sidebar was repaired and several weeks later the repair job failed on a permanent fix was then put in place. as kron 4 christine conley tells us inspection since. >> the bay bridge i bars are inspected every three months. inspectors have found what the ftc says is the number of very small nicks in the middle the bridge. you see one of those tiny nicks circles here in the photo they're easily fixed by writing about. the mtc doesn't know the number that has been found they say it's a war in the low double digits. they've all been repaired. the concern is the knicks could be a precursor to cracking. this is nbc's john goodwin and he explains why. >> investigation into the crack in the high b
