new york. the suspect's name is emanuel luchman. he's 25 years old. according to the fbi he was planning this attack buying -- from walmart, buying knives and zip ties, ski masks, duct tape. the plan was to use bombs, perhaps a pressure cooker bomb and knives to kill people at this gathering for new year's eve. the fbi says this is a man who has a criminal history in new york serving five years for a robbery arrest. and also has mental health problems. you know, they arrested him yesterday after he recorded a video, brianna, pledging allegiance to isis and claiming responsibility for an attack that was supposed to happen tonight. they say that he was in touch or he claimed to be in touch with an isis operative overseas who was ordering him or directing him to carry out this attack. >> and how did they -- these authorities, how did they manage to stop him from doing this? >> well, they were working -- he was working, brianna, with a couple of fbi informants. one of them was paid $19,000, the oth

and the new warning tonight, just as we approach new year's. that the flooding, already deadly, could become historic in scope. there are evacuations at this hour. the mississippi river rising. the missouri governor calling in the national guard. neighbors lining up right there with sandbags. gas stations, restaurants, almost completely submerged. meteorologist rob marciano in union, missouri, tonight, where there is an urgent effort under way at this hour. >> reporter: along the rising rivers in the heartland tonight, an army of volunteers in a race against time. dozens of people coming together in this town to shore up that levee, so that the mississippi doesn't flood kimmswick. heavy equipment building berms. parts of the town of kimmswick, fast. >> reporter: in union, missouri, the mcdonald's, surrounded by water. that gas station, swallowed up by the river. more than 500 roads closed across the state. the coast guard even closing parts of the mississippi river. the flooding in this region, already claiming at least 18 lives. missouri's gov

new at six... the woman who survived a shooting caught on live t-v four months ago is going back to work. vicki gardner was shot once in the back in august ....while alison parker in roanoke, virginia. parker and her camerman adam ward died. the shooter was a former employee of the t-v station "w-d b-j". (vicki gardner, virginia shooting survivor) "and as he approached, i could see it. and i was a little distracted but i was not concerned. and when he opened fire, it was still very difficult to even understand...to comprehend what was happening. it was something that one does not expect to happen, and your mind very quickly goes into a lot of scenarios. but it was very horrific." gardner says she's not haunted by the shooting- instead enthusiastic for the future. she plans to return to her job at the local chamber of commerce in late january. rolling stone magazine is trying to get a lawsuit dismissed....after it was filed by three former university of virginia ...fraternity members. the three stud
