each and every day at the newseum, we highlight the risks journalists around the world take to reporthe truth. john certainly put his life and work at risk, taking these pictures. so this exhibit is another apt example of what journalists are willing to do to bring the world the news. our mission at the newseum is to help the public and the media better understand one another, which is certainly needed in today's society. and to educate visitors about the value of free and fair press and the five freedoms of the first amendment. since we opened our doors here on pennsylvania avenue nearly 10 years ago, we welcomed more than 7 million visitors and our digital education programs reached 10 million students around the world every year. i would like to take a moment to thank all of our visitors, our newseum members and friends of the first amendment society to help make these programs possible. this exhibit was a partnership with "stars & stripes," distinguished newspaper which i tried every day to read when i was in vietnam. 3d photo works, which converts 2d images into 3d tactile and ta

a number of us were at the newseum in september. one of the highlights was justice sotomayor. she had taken over the board of civics. the group that she started. she gave a wonderful sort of talk about civic education, and the constitution, and then she walked through the crowd and to questions, sort of one-on-one. there was a moment. there were young people there. so i want to say that, yes we , need to listen to the young people, but we also need to listen to each other. so there was a young undergraduate who was seething in response. and she said -- she said to the justice "how can you talk about , all of this free speech when so many people are just so wrong? what do i do?" by the way, that is exactly what happened in that meeting. the adults were like, ok. she put her hand on that young woman's shoulder and said "listen." and i do think that as we talk and consider knowledge, agency, voice, protest, the flip side of that is yes, we listen to young people, but we also listen to each other. catherine: great way to end. thank you so much. we would love to take your questions
