most advanced progress that we made in the city, something that began with my predecessor, gavin newsom, when he was mayor did of the last time he made an announcement about the car been emissions reductions that we had, he was able to announce last year, in 2010, that we had reached the kyoto protocol levels of 7% below our 1990 levels. well, today, after updated analysis and a recognition of the efforts that have been made, we have now reached 12% below the 1990 levels. that is a tremendous, tremendous accomplishment for our city. that success for that organization that has been so collaborative, one that gavin newsom started and i get to continue, called china sf, an ambitious initiative focused on attracting the north american headquarters of chinese companies entering the u.s. market. tioga energy, its solar development company, moved their headquarters from silicon valley to our financial district. their main reasons included the city's strained in financial- services, the robust talent, and of course our cities and matched policy leadership on sustainability issues. and the reasons for this success is clear. san francisco has led the way, with all the environmental policies and aggressively seeking to address the environmental problems of our age. people are taking note of this. san francisco was recently named the greenest city in north america by vehemence corporation an economist. we leave this corporation in carbon reduction, recycling and composting, the adoption of solar, energy efficiency, and vehicle technologies. water conservation in green building. if that is not enough happening in our financi
