thank you, governor newsom. similarly it's been the honor of my career to serve as fifth district supervisors and working for 14 years under the leadership of dennis herrera and terry stuart. the work that that law office did was extraordinary. when san francisco didn't just defend gavin newsom, it was a pivotal moment in history and anytime any government in the state to sue on the marriage loss. he said i want a trial on the facts of the case. i want to see what the facts are, the trial that i have always been trying to get. we as a city and the city attorney's office put discrimination on trial. and we got prop 8 and the discriminatory marriage laws struck down. there is an unsung hero in that. part of why it changed the debate was because it was the first time a government was voicing a societal interest and why we have a common interest in ending marriage discrimination. we turned to san francisco's chief economist, ted eagan, are and said how much does it cost the city and county of san francisco, californ

last year, newsom signed a law to increase the minimum wage up to $20 per hour at most fast food chains in california by april. 1st. but an exception was made specifically for quote, chains that baked bread and sell it as a stand-alone item. it was understood the exemption included panera bread fast forward to last week, a bloomberg article suggested the exemption was made because newsom don't or and panera bread. franchisee billionaire greg flynn who went to the same high school as new some expressed concern the minimum wage would hurt his business, including the 24 panera. bread franchises he owns across the state. republicans in the legislature sent attorney general rob bonta this letter now demanding an ethics investigation this afternoon bonta's office confirmed they received the letter but could not comment further at this time in response to all of newsom spokesperson did issue a statement which reads the governor never met with flynn about the bill and the story is absurd. our legal team has reviewed and it appears panera is not exempt from the law. as for flynn, he wrote in par

and that is, governor newsom has been pushing to pass. just yesterday, he was in san francisco with other political leaders, including mayor london breed, asking people to vote yes, this is a $6 billion, $1 billion that would go towards tackling mental health and homelessness. how likely is this to pass? >> well, you know, this ballot measure in that same poll that showed steve garvey up, the uc, the uc berkeley poll with, d, mark dicamillo, who's kind of the dean of california pollsters, did that polling. he also showed that prop one was at 50% support right now, so that makes it sound like it's incredibly close and it might be a nail biter. however, the no side on that ballot measure was only 34. so really kind of soft opposition, to it. and i expect that those undecideds, even if they broke, you know, 5 to 1 against the ballot measure, given those numbers in the uc berkeley poll, it seems as though that ballot measure still would have enough support to pass. so i expect it to pass. i expect it to kind of be a statement, for gavin newso

is this a huge win for governor newsom? as thin as that margin was? >> yeah, it's a huge win for newsom. and it was a narrow margin. but a win is a win. you know somebody wins the tour de france by 25 seconds. they don't say, well, you only won by 25 seconds. you're always you know, going to hold on to that victory. and i think that's what governor newsom is going to do with this ballot measure. and in fact, in, you know, eight months, we're going to have a general election with other ballot measures. some of those ballot measures will be trying to use spending to solve some of the state's problems, either state or local measures. and i don't think a lot of people are going to remember that this, you know, victory was so narrow. >> oh, perhaps when he does run for president, that happens for 2028. you don't think the political opponents will point to it as a weakness, that he's spent a lot of effort and political capital to get it passed, and it was so close. >> no, i don't think that the margin of victory will be something that, you know, will be fod
