nicole is in the newsroom with details. north carolina governor pat mccrory's declared a state of emergency in response to the violent protests. we've learned the national guard just arrived in charlotte this morning. last night's demonstrations started as a prayer vigil for keith scott...who was shot and killed by a police officer tuesday. but a group split off -- and marched downtown...and some later turned violent. someone in that group condition. city officials say police did not fire the shot. after the shooting police in riot gear began firing tear gas and tried to break up the crowds.
