how did those filter down from dennis out here on the desk to the newsroom?> well, we had that from dennis, and i think almost everyone in the newsroom at that time, that was our news director as well. it was a time when we truly. not that you don't today, but it was a time when people tuned in to the 10:00 news. there weren't all these other outlets like you have now for news. so it was must watch 10:00 news. i can't tell you how many business people or politicians would tell me they wouldn't go to bed till 11:00 because they had to stay up and watch the 10:00 news. it was much, much watch fair. and part of that was dennis. and i did hear some of the comments. the people you interviewed earlier, and i heard the one woman say that he was a snappy dresser and pretty good looking, and that was true too. plus, people used to always ask me in the field about dennis's muscles and as you know, he he was in very good shape. and what they didn't always know was that he had to have his shirts and his suits custom made, because he did have those great muscles up here o

we all gathered in the newsroom. we watched that final newscast together in the newsroom afterward.ou know, we had like champagne and paper cups. we hugged dennis. we took pictures. i actually asked my husband to come, and i can't believe i did this, and i'm so glad that i did. he took some photos here, that show, of course, dennis and julie and mark and you know, bill martin there behind him. and you know, our entire ktvu family from from the decades before. and people were able to say a direct thank you to dennis richmond. so many of us were almost scared to say it. but as you're about to see here in these next couple of pictures, we saw dennis get a little bit emotional and we never saw that in the newsroom. he was all business 100% of the time. high expectations. i never saw the man wear jeans or a tee shirt. i mean, he was 110% the whole time. but just to be able to really take a moment and say thank you to him for his expectation of excellence, for what he meant to us as kids growing up in the bay area, as journalists who were able to work with and for him, you know, the thing

more new video into the newsroom. just smoke billowing after it came crashing down into homes, businesses, cars, people airport that the that this plane came from a primarily serves business jets and charter flights. the faa says this plane was in route to springfield, branson national airport in missouri. and the plane is registered in mexico being used here for a medical assignment. so you can imagine there may be some medical personnel on that plane. the crash happened less than 3 miles from the airport and it just disappeared from radar. about 30 seconds later after climbing to an altitude of 1600 feet. the plane likely had a full tank of gas for its trip. so all that fuel just exploded. local media is reporting it came crashing down near shopping mall, causing buildings as they said to catch you can see in the video just very dense area with people all around massive fireball, tons of smoke. this was right as people were heading home from work friday nights. you can only imagine just the devastation it has caused

ktvu henry lee spoke with neighbors, and he joins us live now from the newsroom with the latest details. henry. >> well, jenna, hours before the fire, citizens complained about an oil and gas spill at the refinery. and now, after the fire, there's official action. the newly renamed bay area air district today issued two notices of violation against the refinery for public nuisance and excessive smoke and soot fallout. >> irritated, i saw the flames and the smoke and the black smoke and the white smoke. >> sandra krieger is upset by a weekend fire at the martinez refining company. the fire caused from a hydrocarbon leak on saturday afternoon, sent smoke into the air and led to dozens of complaints from the community. >> i've lived here for ten years and never did i experience anything like that. >> the refinery says the fire has been controlled, and an initial investigation is focusing on whether a leak that may have occurred during maintenance activities contributed to the fire. the refinery says it's, quote, deeply sorry for the disruption and concern we have caused the community. six
