the washington post, the new york times and newsweek newsweekly were unfriendly throughout the. so i just wanted to do that and give you that as a backdrop anyway my mainly is about my years with president reagan but was different about my book. it's not a biography. it's a memoir. it was different about it. is that what central to my story and it's important i tell it here at the nixon library is that as started to write the book about reagan i realized that i couldn't write about reagan because. i made it to reagan's varsity team. without, i couldn't have made it without first serving on richard nixon's team. and that's and that's why opening chapters of the book start with. 4 to 5 chapters that are essentially focused on time that i worked with richard nixon in in the white house, and then here and here in california in san clemente. and so the only way i could open it was with the end of the nixon administration and sad occurrences of 50 years ago this august, of when he was what i call unfairly hounded out of office. and we'll have more to say about that in 17 days when aug
