i can remember back this 2012 when mitt romney's little mysterious funders were taking newt gingrichask and taking him out of the primaries there was loot of outrage from rick and some of the folks in the newt gingrich camp. and it sort of depends on where you sit. these guys come in, they come under cover of darkness and they do what they do because they want to pick a senate that is going to be more reflective of their business interests. >> what i don't like is the tag line, you're getting at it here. if it says at the end of the ad paid for by the americans for prosperity, nobody knows what that means. it sounds sort of vaguely good. it doesn't say paid for by a couple of guys who made billions of dollars in the oil industry that would be useful information, that tag line. on the other point, to your side do, you think democratic working people, middle class democrats give a rat's butt will some rich guy is paying for ads? does it work as a negative attack line to say that there is koch brothers? >> no. here is the thing. it works as a fundraising line. you remember back in day w

backing newt gingrich. obviously a losing candidate.ed him and really prolonged the primary in 2012 and damaged mitt romney going into the general. but this very sort of being tent approach to 2016 where they think somebody like jeb bush could attract more minorities, this is in line with the sort of party line of republicans as well. you think about that autopsy that they released after 2012. this is their thinking as well. apparently huckaby has also come up as sheldon adelson might like also. he's said to be looking at a potential campaign. but we'll have to see. there's a whole parade of these folks who are going to be out there from thursday to sunday. i think dick cheney is also on the lean-up to speak. cory gardner is going to be out there as well. this is going to be a really motley crew of republicans out there. adelson to name a favorite. we'll see how quickly he will do that and whether or not this will mean anything for other republican donors. >> john rolston in adelson's home state. he's the host of "the rolston reports."

remember back in 2012 when the press marveled at how republican presidential candidate newt gingriche race and insisted he wouldn't leave the field after losing major primaries. maybe he was dogged, really determined to see things through. but it didn't hurt that he had a little financial boost courtesy of mr. adelson and his wife. they poured $15 million into a pro-gingrich superpac called winning our future which mainly went toward advertising, a big assist at a time when the gingrich campaign was very short on cash. by late march, adelson decided he lost faith in that candidate and newt gingrich was at the end of his line. soon after, newt gingrich dropped out of the race and adelson threw his support behind a romney superpac, restore our future, with twice the amount of money he gave to gingrich. because when you are worth $38 billion, $92 million of those is just pocket change. in fact, that amount would translate to the median u.s. household of a donation of about 95 bucks. which brings us back to this weekend. at least four republican governor, including christie, are heading

he backed newt gingrich in the 2012 primary and newt lost.ked mitt romney in the general election and romney lost too. i mean, does money only take you so far if the voters reject the candidate or the message? >> well, absolutely, rev. i think the other thing that you have to look at here is during this particular sheldon primary you have four individuals, one that is a former governor, but three of these folks hailing from states that worked very diligently to keep folks in traffic at the polls so that they would not vote. with all the suppressive measures coming from the states that i just mentioned, then you also have bridgegate governor who is working very diligently to keep people in traffic that cross him in the wrong way. so he does need to hedge his bets. but i would really encourage him to think about hedging his bets on policies that help to make america a better place for all americans and not just a safe place for him to gamble with american lives. >> you know, something, e.j. that was striking to me, a number of conservative tv a
