the politics began a little bit earlier and it was how newt gingrich got into the leadership among the house republicans into the former speaker nobody here probably remembers and his whole thing was to make it personal, go after the president. use ken starr to help them with that endeavor. but during that whole period of time coming back to what i think we have all said with the roof blowing up or coming down we have some pretty tough times and pretty strong fights with those republicans at the time. but i think that nelson mandela said something to him and i think later wrote about this they became great friends but the president tried to understand how he couldn't have been filled with hate after he spent 27 years in a prison. and he said if i hated them they would still control me. the only way to be free is to let that go. i think the president was not happy every day he could get pretty vociferous about how he was being put upon and attacked but i think that he always just tried to get stuff done and as we were talking about this panel, i remember at the last meeting we had with
