our investigative reporter, candice nguyen, is in oakland monitoring this announcement.r the iconic cliff house in san francisco. this happened on tuesday. one of the victims, the person that died, has been identified as alan wong. he's 56 year old man from san francisco. this crash happened tuesday afternoon. like i mentioned, and sent both cars over the cliff. wong was killed. the driver of the other car only suffered minor injuries. crews also rescued a dog at the site. still not clear what caused the two cars to go off that cliff. if you've stepped outside, you know it is hot out there. meteorologist kari hall is tracking those temperatures and when we might see a cool down. hi. kari. we are still under a microclimate weather alert due to those triple digit temperatures that we are seeing for today. and it still will be hot tomorrow. so the heat advisory continues until tomorrow evening. by saturday, we're seeing enough of a drop in our highs that it will be a little bit more comfortable for those outdoor activities, and we will continue to cool down as we go through

this all does come after those candice nguyen investigative reports that started last year into those response times. at the 911 system in oakland in march, the city announced it was making improvements to the system on the heels of those reports. but in may or in july, oakland admitted it would only it could not meet the state deadlines to increase the percentage of calls that are answered within 15 seconds, the california office of emergency services said it would help the city meet the deadline, and last month, os said it was increasing monitoring of the system. state funding for local 911 units requires the systems to answer at least 90% of calls within the 15 seconds. it's all not hardware or software issues, though. staffing has also been a problem. they're currently still five unstaffed dispatch positions in the system, and it takes ten months and the time of an experienced 911 operators to train every new dispatcher. and it's a 911 callers who suffer most when they need help fast. in august last year, oakland 911 dispatchers answered just 37% of calls. within that 15 second wi

i'm candice nguyen. is accused of causing a deadly wrong-way crash in the south bay will face a judge for the first time today. 47 year old rebecca olson and her 14 year old son charlie, died in the crash. the man who's accused of driving into them faces the charge. his arraignment is scheduled for today. now, you might remember the crash on highway 85 from a couple of weeks ago. it happened near the 85 and 87 interchange in san jose. police say the man was driving on the wrong side of the road for a few minutes before he slammed into a tesla. investigators identified the suspect as 39 year old duncan mcquarrie from florida. he was released from the hospital yesterday and is now in jail. if you're walking in san francisco, you might want to watch your head. another window has fallen from a high rise, and this time from about 40 floors up. so take a look at this. you can see the missing window at the top of the building from the address of 350 mission. that's across the street from the millennium towers.

let's bring in our investigative reporter, candice nguyen, who's been tracking this story. just listening to her. that is alarming. you're in stress. you're in danger. perhaps you call 911. and what's happening? just no one's picking up. or are they putting you on hold directly? some are going right to hold, some saying being hold for several minutes. some are saying the calls are dropped, some are waiting ten minutes. i recently heard about a call that where the person waited ten minutes. okay, so give us an update here. how bad is the oakland response time and does it get any better? since when we talked about this a year ago? yeah, there has been a slight improvement as of just last june. oakland's answering most of its 911 calls within 50s five zero 55 zero. that's a four second improvement since last year. 54 seconds raj. this is still completely unacceptable. oakland needs to be answering most of its 911 calls in 15 seconds. so right now, the response time still triple what it should be. that's a big delta 50s currently down from 54 seconds. we need to be at 15 second
