and nia-malika henderson, reporter for "the washington post." >> thanks. >> it's great to be here. >>ver going to be able to unite behind just one of these candidates? >> well, at some point they'll obviously have to when this thing goes to the general. and that's what you see mitt romney already trying to look forward to. he's running this race like he's already in the general, like his opponent is already obama. but you have all these other candidates. perry, paul, gingrich and santorum fighting amongst themselves for a coal coalesced conservative base. this is a vote really that looks a lot like the huckabee vote in 2008. he got about 30% of the vote. of course, lost in 2008 to john mccain. he got about 33% of the vote. i think you'll be looking at a split vote going into this primary on saturday. but again, this ultimately benefits mitt romney. in some ways, ultimately i think also benefits barack obama. the longer this thing goes on, the weaker mitt romney is because he's going to have to pivot to the right. he's going to have to pivot to evangelicals, and piv to the tea party. h

. >> joining us notice nia malika henderson, reporter for "the washington post." at flattering portrayal of calista by gingrich's second wife or flattering portrayal of newt. do you see her coming under much more scrutiny in the wake of this interview? >> you're right, it may be an inconvenient interview for gingrich, but i think one of the things that's also true is this has been out here for a really long time. people have gotten used to the fact that newt gingrich has been married three times, that he has been unfaithful to his wives. that's something he's admitted to. you saw him last night really push back on that. almost in talking to people, even women, they say this was a disgruntled ex-wife. they heard what she had to say about newt gingrich supposedly asking for an open marriage, and he feel like his personal business is his personal business. he has been very open about this, and calista gingrich is always out on the stump by his side. in that way it makes it appears it's not something they're hiding, not something they're ashamed about, this is his mar
