after joining me with the latest to discuss all of this is cnn political reporter nia-malika hendersony the change? >> we've seen a lot of movement on this since that initial press release from donald trump. a lot of pastors have come out to say they don't stand with donald trump. they are not endorsing him. some, of course, will endorse him out of this meeting, but it seems like a lot went on over these past few days. one of the things that went on was, you know, a lot of publicity around this. and then some pushback from other pastors who, for instance, wrote a letter in ebony magazine saying these african-american pasters shouldn't meet with trump, shouldn't endorse him. shouldn't endorse his views, which many people say assistant thet cal to a lot of the causes to people in the black faith community have been pushing for for many years. >> in light of that, trump is now claiming the black lives matter members have pressured these religious leaders to back down from their endorsement of him. do you think this will be creationed in their meeting today? >> i would imagine. no presses

nia-malika henderson is following the carson campaign. what do you expect ben carson is going to say after all of that? >> reporter: well, we know his aide, armstrong williams, was on our air this morning talking about this and essentially saying that his prescription for donald trump at this point, he has clearly donald trump committed to going after ben carson in this manner. the only solution -- i think we have some of that sound. >> you know, it's so immature. it is so embarrassing. i feel so sorry for him. when i spoke with dr. carson about this yesterday, asking how we should respond? he was so sad for him. he says, pray for him. he feels so sorry for him because he really likes mr. trump. he like what is mr. trump brings to this campaign, what he brings to this campaign with immigration. but watching him implode before our very eyes, it's sad to watch. >> reporter: so there you see a kind of turn the other cheek approach to this so far. we'll have to see what dr. ben carson says. he has an event here at noon. he'll be on stage with

cupp and ryan lizzo along with senior political reporter nia-malika henderson. attacks on dr. ben carson. we know what donald trump did, he effectively -- he hurt jeb bush early on when he was going after him with his low energy and all of that. can he do the same thing to ben carson? >> you know, he's been trying to do this since mid-september. he once called ben carson an okay doctor who hired a nurse. that didn't really work. he criticized his religion. he's talked about his abortion views. he hasn't, i think, yet found a criticism that sticks to dr. ben carson, and i think in some ways, it's partly because they have different audiences. carson appeals to evangelicals and women, white women, and donald trump appeals to a different subset of the republican party. so, i think that's in many ways why it hasn't really worked. we'll see if he tries this at the debate tonight. going into that last debate, he was getting rough with ben carson, but in that debate, they were kind of -- they kept kind of a bromance, i think, in that last debate. so, we'll see what he do

. >> and now, let's bring in maeve reston and nia-malika henderson. and in that interview, dr. carson was asked about some of the incidents when he was 13, 14 years old, and what are some of the discrepancies? >> well, he has described, bob by the first name of bob, which he recently said was a fictionalized name, and described him as a friend and classmate and now he is describing him as a close relative. that is new information. and it is information that would have been helpful to us when we went to the campaign initially in a very transparent way and said that we were reporting on the incidents and asked for their help in identifying some of the people. there is another incident regarding an attack on his mother. he writes in "gifted hands" about having an argument with her about what clothe s s to we and attempting to attack her when his brother intervenes and stops that from happening. he is subsequently spoken spoken about an argument over clothes where he attempts to the attack her with a hammer and the brother intervenes. now i don't know if they are two separate incid
