i'm nicholas sparks, i've got to have a love story in there too.nspired by my cousin. he's a former army. he's on a journey to find his biological father. then he meets katelyn. she's a doctor, divorced mother of two, who is pretty much inspired by every divorced woman i know in their 40s and they kind of wonder where are all the good men. these three stories kind of collide. >> so many of your books have been turned into movies, or in this case now, a musical. when you're writing, do you think about that, like, hey, could this be translated into a different medium? >> great question. when i'm thinking of the story prior to writing, i do try to take film and television into account and novels, because i want the story to be original in all three mediums. for instance, i'd never write a love story set on the titanic. it's been done. when it comes to the film, i'm the first one to say, okay, what do we have to get rid of in the novel or change in the novel to make it work as a film? so i take all those into account. throughout i'm trying to come up w
