nicholas white is trapped alone in an elevator. stuck there not just for hours but for days. nicholas is a production manager for "business week" magazine, working a late shift in midtown manhattan on friday night. it's just before 11:00 p.m. when he decides to head down from his 43rd office for a smoke break. on his way back up, somewhere between the 1st and 43rd floors, nicholas feels a jolt. then suddenly, the car stops. as he buzzes the alarm, he's expecting someone to answer, but it rings and rings and rings, all caught on a security camera, but unbelievably, nobody is watching the footage and no one answers his call for help. so he pries open the door and sees he's between floors. next, nicholas tries screaming, but it's late at night and nobody's there to hear him. time passes, he doesn't know how much, an hour, two hours, he doesn't know if it's day or night. but he knows it's probably the weekend now. all the co-workers that might have wondered where he is have surely gone home until monday. hour ten, a security camera show
