nicholson was getting letters from joshua chamberlain up until the last year of his wife. chamberlain trying to use whatever political military leverage he had to get the commission to move those rock walls. nicholson would write to one of his colleagues, having to say no to joshua chamberlain, was one of the great trials of his wife. what ended up happening is the war department created a little tablet. no bigger than my laptop, really. maybe a little bit bigger. today sits along side, ripen each one of those walls that chamberlain built and said basically, the walls were built on defense july 1963. it was only memorial, market, tablet that i know of in the park so function is to correct a misconception. joshua chamberlain hated those walls. he was so protective of it that even a stack -- was too much. you gotta remove it. of course it is still there today. >> john, do we have any questions about -- i was going to have chris comment on a book here. >> you can have him comment on that. i will look back and see what we got. >> joshua chamberlain's correspondents, my reckoni

. >>> and for more now on tomorrow's event we're joined by brandon nicholson founding director of the for being here. describe for folks at home this event. >> and the genius project was founded to engage and get their hands into the technology space. it's really meant to empower and encourage these young people to pursue their own interests. we're less worried about diversifying just making sure they can fill empty engineering jobs. so at the event tomorrow we're inviting people of all backgrounds to join us. the integration of music, sports, fashion, marketing and the different goals roles that take on tech. >> it's really neat the idea of showing kids what's out there. what are you hoping the students that will be involved in tomorrow's event walk away with. >> the number one thing that we want the students joining us tomorrow will walk away with is confidence. confidence that they can be in this space. when we first developed the event we had an influx of technology companies who are working in a number of roles and so many of those volunteers are people of color. the thing we wan

and i have to say that chief nicholson is 100% supportive. so the budget decisions will really be external to the fire department if this is what city leadership wants. i think there's enormous -- a team like this can do, not only for people in behavioral crisis, but people in social crises. and not only police code 800, someone having a behavioral crisis, but someone who simply needs a well being check in a public space. someone who is prone on the sidewalk, is that a behavioral crisis, is that person just need shelter. i believe that this sort of approach is the way to go. now i also want to share with you what has happened in the first seven days. first seven days very, very limited response hours, as i said. 10:00 until 5:00 last week. we've had 36 dispatches for review from the d.e.c., the department of emergency communications. we turned some of them down if they're too far away. we're not going to le playa and fulton. because we're prioritizing the tenderloin. and also if it is call comes in and it's somebody in the private residence,
